ham sat

The October program will be Mac Cody AE5PH presenting AMSAT Ham Radio Satellites. Mac has been involved with ham radio satellite communications since June of last year, accumulating a wealth of knowledge and know-how. You may have seen him at various RWK Field Day events demonstrating satellite QSOs with his portable equipment. This program will be a great opportunity to learn about satellite communications. Would you like to make some QSOs off a satellite with a homebrew antenna and a couple of HTs? Would you like to work the International Space Station? Mac will show us how it’s done.

The Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (the official AMSAT name) was first formed in 1969 as an educational organization. Its goal is to foster Amateur Radio’s participation in space research and communication. AMSAT is a continuation of Project OSCAR (Orbital Satellites Carrying Amateur Radio) which built and launched the very first Amateur Radio satellite on 12-Dec-1961, barely four years after the launch of Sputnik.
