Fred Zimring W5HTR died peacefully September 19, 2023 at home. He was 83. Fred was a long-time member of RWK. Fred was an avid amateur radio operator who held an extra-class license, a pilot, flight instructor, former member of the Civil Air Patrol.
As an attorney, Fred used his skills to help RWK write our 501(c)(3) non-profit status application. Fred was also one of the early organizers of Ham-Com and did a lot of the original legal work for the committee.
He was very active on HF, with both SSB and early digital/data modes (RTTY, AMTOR) and took a lot of enjoyment in helping fellow hams out.
